The AIU-Social Business Design Lab is a brainstorming platform for students to cultivate their creative minds to find social solutions and social innovation ideas. We believe, in order for social solutions and social innovation ideas to be invented, the students need to be actively engaged in community projects and programmes. By doing this, they will have a better understanding of the root issues involved, the challenges, strategies to overcome, and propose potential solutions.

Our community engagement programmes are in Baling and Sik, Kedah. The potential social solution or innovation would be a new method, business model, tool and equipment, software, or an app that will improve the quality of life of the people, especially the poor. These solutions will then be turned into social business ideas. This lab is divided into 3 clusters. As stated by Professor Muhammad Yunus, there are 3 crucial areas that the world needs to focus on: (1) Poverty (Zero Wealth Concentration), (2) Unemployment (Zero Unemployment), and (3) Net Carbon Emissions (Zero Net Carbon Emissions).
