In 2023, a group of students from Albukhary International University (AIU) in Malaysia, united with a shared determination to tackle the pressing IT-related challenges their fellow students faced. This group comprises Md Nurullah, Md Jamal Hossan, Md Amin Ullah Sheikh, Abubakar Ahmad Rufa’i, and Mohamad Safuan Bin Mohd Akhir, representing diverse backgrounds from Bangladesh, Nigeria, and Malaysia.

Prof. Muhammad Yunus's concept of social business inspired them, and they aimed to benefit themselves and the community around them. The idea came about through market research, understanding the needs of students, and shifting the business model to address a social cause. Driven by their shared desire to make a difference, they created 'EDU Solution,' a business venture focused on bridging the digital divide and making IT resources more accessible and affordable for all students at AIU.

With a clear-minded vision, they set out to empower every student with the tools they need to succeed in today's tech-driven world. They started operating from their room, focusing on personal communication and word-of-mouth marketing.

As they grew, they registered the business as a social enterprise and expanded their activities to benefit students. They found out some students are challenged accessing essential IT resources due to financial constraints.

Many couldn't afford laptops or other necessary gadgets for their studies, while others struggled to find affordable repair services when their devices malfunctioned. This lack of access hindered their ability to participate in their studies and use educational resources.

Recognising the importance of technology in modern education and the barriers students face, they decided to take action. Their business, EDU Solution, was born to address these issues head-on.

Moreover, they went beyond merely providing products and services; they recognised an opportunity to empower students by offering training and upskilling opportunities. Their mission is to ensure that every student, regardless of their financial background, has access to the tools and resources needed for academic success.

Through their efforts, they strive to level the playing field and create a more inclusive learning environment.

• They offer cheap printing services at a 50% discount with flexible operating hours tailored to students. Through these affordable options, they help them save on printing costs, making educational materials more accessible.

Their impact is profound and tangible. Their primary achievement lies in providing laptops accessible to every student, regardless of their financial circumstances. At Albukhary International University, nearly 200 students, representing diverse backgrounds, now possess laptops thanks to our initiative. This equates to 20% of the university population benefiting from their service. Beyond the university grounds, their reach extends to the people of Alor Setar, where they have made a meaningful difference in their lives.

One of their team members, Nurullah, has a personal connection to their mission. Unable to afford a laptop, he borrowed money from a friend and bought it. His experience fuels their dedication to ensuring no student faces the same struggle. Stories like Nurullah's drive them to continue their efforts and expand their impact.

Looking ahead, they are committed to future growth. By actively participating in events organised by Albukhary International University, they aim to reach even more students and individuals in need. Their journey is a testament to the power of determination and compassion in creating positive change within their community.
